Respecting Your Time - Hello my diamonds! I have a school shooting update for those of you who do not live in the area. For those of you who listened to Episode 38, there was a school shooting in my hometown – give or take ten miles from my house. It is an incredibly prestigious high school and potentially the one that my child was going to attend. That is likely not the case anymore. Although, the procedures and money being spent to prevent that from happening again is likely a lot higher than that of other schools.
Most of the funerals have taken place by this point, but there is a great deal of mourning still present. It is as if there is a heavy cloud lingering over the city. It is kind of strange getting back to normal. Feeling comfortable laughing and being happy is actually rather odd considering there are so many families that have endured pain and heartbreak.
What I am so impressed by, though, is the amount of children who are speaking up. Whether it is through YouTube or Instagram or Snapchat, I am just amazed. These individuals are not staying silent, and they are taking a stand to fight for better standards.
These students are saying “no” to what is going on in this world right now. In a similar sense, I have been reading The Book of No: 250 Ways to Say It – And Mean It and Stop People-pleasing Forever. I am taking on the mindset of “If you can’t help me, then get out of my way.” I am learning to say no to random chats and pointless dates and irrelevant gossip. Start respecting your time!!
I would much rather have a meaningful conversation that has the potential to help me grow as a person and reach my goals. More info on allowing yourself to say no ---here--- on my latest podcast!
